Mankato Fence is a family-owned and operated fencing and shed company that is proud to serve the Mankato Minnesota area. Mankato Fence got its start when Ben Simon, the owner of The Shed & Fence Company, expanded into the Mankato Minnesota area to build beautiful, long-lasting fences!

Though I'm often seen as the "coffee guy" at Mankato Fence, my role as "owner" is more about collaboration than authority. I might have initiated the idea and kickstarted the company, but its success is a collective effort. It's built on the trust of our valued customers who expect and receive top-notch products from us. My wife Kelsie and our daughter Hallie have been my unwavering support system, dedicating their time and energy from the very beginning. Our team members have also been instrumental, embodying our vision and commitment to exceptional customer service. I'm here to support everyone, even if it means fetching coffee!
Growing up in Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park, MN, I was always immersed in sports and neighborhood adventures. My free time was spent building and tinkering, which fostered my love for working with my hands. This passion for the outdoors and hands-on work led me to pursue a career in building.
After moving to St. Bonifacius, MN two years post-marriage, I joined the fire department in 2016, inspired by a childhood neighbor's dedication as a volunteer firefighter. St. Boni, our charming small town, spans just one square mile. Despite the surrounding area's growth, we cherish the tight-knit community feel here.

When we do find spare time, Kelsie, Hallie, and I enjoy lake outings, camping, and all the adventures that come with them.
In 2020, I decided to transition from a 15-year career in collision repair into the fencing industry and founded The Shed and Fence Company. Combining my attention to detail from the collision repair industry with a lifelong interest in building, the move to crafting quality sheds and fences was a natural fit. I've further honed my skills through advanced training in fence building techniques from the American Fence Association. I, and the entire team at The Shed & Fence Company, are thrilled to continue serving Minnesota with our new branch, Mankato Fence!
My wife Leah and I are celebrating 11 years of marriage this year, and we are blessed with three young children. We are deeply grateful to God for uniting us and gifting us with our wonderful family!
My background includes serving four years as an Infantryman in the United States Marine Corps. I hold a Master's degree in Exercise Physiology from St. Scholastica, a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Concordia University, and a Truck Technician Diploma from Saint Paul Technical College.
My passions include Christ, physical fitness, and contributing meaningfully to our community with the skills I've acquired. I enjoy hands-on work, whether it's repairing vehicles or fixing things around the house.
Leah is currently homeschooling our eight-year-old daughter Addisyn and our six-year-old son Elijah. Our youngest, Lilyanna, who is 14 months old, also joins us in the homeschooling journey. As a family, we relish being outdoors, discovering the beauty of God's creation, and spending quality time together. We are grateful for the chance to serve others and eagerly anticipate assisting with your next shed or fence project!
